Giving blood is safe, simple and it saves lives.
If you are in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, have a photo I.D. are at least 17 years old, you could be a blood donor. (If you're 16 years old, you can donate with a signed parent permission slip.)
Of course, you'll have to go through some screening questions and a mini-physical to make sure you can safely donate blood to help a critically ill patient.
Come on, give it a try. It'll make you feel great.
Kentucky Blood Center honored four area businesses with the 2009 Leading By Example Awards. East Kentucky Broadcasting in Pikeville, Clear Channel Radio in Somerset, and S&S Tire Auto Service Centers and Clean Sweep Car Wash in Lexington were recognized for their generous and continued dedication to Kentucky Blood Center and Kentucky blood donors.
Thanks to the generosity of the United States Department of Agriculture, Kentucky Blood Center has a new bloodmobile to use for community blood collections in the Pikeville region. The bus was dedicated at a recent Pike County Chamber of Commerce's After Hours.
