Purpose: Assist with clerical work in various KBC Departments.
Responsibilities: Administrative volunteers perform a variety of tasks which can include:
filing, stuffing packets with educational materials, data entry, assisting with mailings, all depending on
the department.
Qualifications: Detail oriented individual willing to work as part of a team. Computer
skills not required, but can be helpful.
Blood Drive Coordinator
Purpose: Blood Drive Coordinators are part of a unique group of individuals across
the Commonwealth who have taken a lead role in saving lives. Blood drives are the backbone of the blood supply,
providing more than 60% of the blood sent to hospital patients!
Responsibilities: Provide
a suitable location. Recruit donors within the organization and publicize the drive. Schedule donors for their appointments
Qualifications: A well-organized individual who can work with a KBC Donor Recruitment
Specialist to review site requirements, develop an energetic team to promote the blood drive and devote the
time necessary to have a successful blood drive.
It is important to have the enthusiastic support of the blood
drive organization’s leadership to have a successful blood drive. The blood drive planning process begins
14 weeks prior to the actual blood drive.
Responsibilities: Observe donors following the donation process
while serving refreshments necessary for the replacement of vital body fluids. Alert staff immediately if
reaction occurs. Maintain a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for donors as they prepare to be released.
Qualifications: A desire to help, excellent communication skills. Dependable, friendly,
attentive, enjoy people. Mobility in order to serve refreshments.
Hospital Services Driver
Purpose: Transport blood and supplies from donor centers, blood drives and labs and
blood products to hospitals.
Responsibilities: Transportation Volunteers drive the van
from centers to labs and hospitals on a prescheduled route twice during a four hour shift. Check vehicle and
gas up as needed according to Transportation procedure.
Qualifications: Valid KY driver's license with good driving record. Ability to lift
35lbs. Will be trained in safe driving and blood borne barriers.
Special Event Greeter
Purpose: Reception, meet and greet volunteer blood donors.
Responsibilities:
Greet donors. Maintain a professional, cheerful attitude while
welcoming donors.
Qualifications: A desire to help, excellent communication skills, ability
to provide confident, pleasant direction to donors. Positive attitude.
Special Event Volunteer
Purpose: To represent the blood center at health fairs and other public events in order
to promote blood donation and volunteering with KBC.
Responsibilities: Pick up event materials at KBC in advance and take to designated
event and/or meet other volunteers or KBC staff at event. Talk to passerby and those interested in discussing
KBC and blood donation.
Qualifications: Understand Common Donor Questions and variety of patient
stories as well as general Key Messages as defined by Marketing & Communications.

Channel Radio in Somerset, and S&S Tire Auto Service Centers and Clean Sweep
Car Wash in Lexington were recognized for their generous and continued dedication to Kentucky Blood Center and Kentucky blood donors.
Pikeville Bus Dedication
Thanks to the generosity of the United States Department of Agriculture, Kentucky Blood Center has a new bloodmobile to use for community blood collections in the Pikeville region. The bus was dedicated at a recent Pike County Chamber of Commerce's After Hours.
